The Meeting was Called to Order by Vincent Sheehan, President at 7:15pm

Minutes Read and Accepted from Previous Month

Treasurer’s Report: Dan Smith, Treasurer reported -Expenses for the month of May of $4,276.61. Account balances of $67.390.77 as of May 31,2018.

 Upcoming Events & Issues:

  • Dine to Donate June 9th – Green Turtle2:00pm-6:00pm – Green Turtle- Board MemberLeslie did not have the results yet. Results are in after meeting of $111.80

 

  • Super Cat Adoption Day Event (SCAD) Saturday, June 16th – 10:00am-3:00pm – Our Lady of Peace Recreation Center- 1740 Route 130, North Brunswick -Lisa Coletta updated the membership.  All is a GO! There are 11 Animal Rescues signed up to attend. Setup will take place on Friday, June 15th   at 4:30pm. We can use all the help we can get.

 

  • Annual Dog Walk-a-Thon & Adoption Day Event – September 16th, rain date September 30th- Michele Andrea & Dan Smith provided updates. Registration forms have been emailed to 97 new and former Sponsors & Vendor and Animal Rescues. So far 8 have signed up. This includes 2 Food Vendors and a Mister Softee & the DJ). An email will be set to former volunteers later in the month. At the July meeting we will have forms to sign up for the various volunteer opportunities (i.e. – registration desk, vendor setup & costume contest judging).

 

  • Community Cat Program- Update provided was from the Board Meeting Minutes- a balance of $7572.92 left in the CCP Budget. NBHA is looking to partner with Karma Cats on SNIP & CHIP.

 

  • Walmart Grant – Dan Smith provided the update- Cat food was purchased and distributed with the grant money to all Caregivers. All the money was used.

 

  • Prudential Insurance Company– Dog & Cat Food Drive- Erica Bundy provided the update – The drive will continue through 6/22/18. So far Prudential Insurance has collected Dog & Cat which Michele and Leslie will take for the CCP and an Animal Rescue Group this evening.

 

  • The Annual North Brunswick Youth Sports Festival – June 14th – June 24th – Board Members provided updates – a letter was sent to Mayor Womack addressing the use of Elephants and other Wild or Exotic Animals in Traveling Animal Acts in this festival. This is in support of “Nosey’s Law” that is currently being voted on by the NJ Senate. The Mayor sent a response letter indicating this was a private not a township event but was willing to setup a meeting with the two parties. It is our understanding that a Protest will take place at the entrance of the event site on Wednesday, June 20th at 6:00pm. An email blast will be sent to NBHA’s distribution list.

 

  • A Call for NBHA Volunteers – Vincent Sheehan updated the members on Flyer created by Donna Hildreth on our need for volunteers with certain skill sets. Copies were provided at the meeting. This has been posted to our Facebook page and an email blast was sent as well.

 

  • NBHA Rummage Sale– July 21st from 8am-2pm in the Township Complex-Dan Smith indicated we had a lot of merchandise left over from the 1st Rummage Sale due to the rain day we had. In order for us to dispose of this merchandise, we will hold a 2nd Rummage Sale. No Vendors just NBHA. We will need volunteers for this.

 

  • National Night Out –August 7th 5:00pm-9:00pm- Township Complex – Dan Smith & Michele Andrea- Michele indicated NBHA always participates in this event. If available Jennifer Peppe will organize the coloring activity for the kids that was so popular last year. More to come…

 

  • Heritage Day – October 6th -1:00pm- 5:00pm – NB Community Park- Dan Smith & Michele Andrea- Michele & Dan indicate this event is held in the NB Community Park. We have to be setup by 11am. We will be looking for volunteers for this event.

 

  • Super 50/50 Raffle– Dan Smith raised the subject and explained how this works. The organization would run a 50/50 Raffle on-line ongoing for several months. Maybe we start with in May at the Flea Market and end in September/October at the Dog Walk. An open discussion took place with the membership on other games of chance (i.e. – Bingo Night, Murder Mystery Night).

 

  • Children’s Educational Program– Eileen King raised the subject of bringing back the Educational Program that Ann Marie Walters created. Eileen suggested St. Matthias Catholic School in Franklin Township as a starting point. A discussion ensued. More to come…

 

  •  NBHS– October 14th -Dan Smith to provide email update to Michele to add to Minutes.
