Treasurers Report– Dan Smith, Treasurer reported $12,757.38 in expenditures for the month of January 2018. Most of the expenses were the SNAP Program distribution and our Annual Insurance.

Upcoming Events & Issues:

  • Grant Writing – Lisa explained that NBHA needs to pursue grants in order to continue to operate. Jim La Canna, who has experience in animal rescue and 501-C3 organizations, has agreed to take on grant writing for NBHA. Thank you, Jim!
  • Dine to Donate – Leslie- Results from Bertucci’s Restaurant is $325.78. Next Dine to Donate is at Fiddleheads Bistro-March 22nd.
  • The Stress Factory– Vince & Dan -The event date has been finalized and it is Sunday, March 18th– doors open at 5:00pm. Need members to step up to sign up advertisers for the Journal and to sell tickets in advance. Tickets and Sponsorship forms can be found on our web site at northbrunswickhumane.org. Tickets can also be purchased at Katie’s Pet Depot.
  • Community Cat Program – Donna – Budget and Update-Donna update the membership on the success of the program in 2017. We got medical care, primarily TNR for 259 cats, we spent $21,000, received $8,000 in donations, partnered with Animal Rescue groups on a 50/50 Feral Fix and Snip & Chip. The 2018 budget is $12,000. Donna Hildreth (NBHA) and Nancy Scalzone (Karma Cats) will be presenting a TNR Education Program, to Teach the Public how to trap on their own and to transport the cats to the clinic to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. These classes will take place at Katie’s Pet Depot in North Brunswick. NBHA will introduce a trap loan program.

Additionally, Leslie Earle, on behalf of the Board of Directors, acknowledged Theresa Spataro for stepping up and taking on the Community Cat Program in Donna Hildreth’s absence during 2017. Theresa performed an important service to the Community and to the North Brunswick Humane Association. Thank you, Theresa! We have for you a certificate of appreciation and 2 -$25.00 Gift Cards at your favorite place, Chipotle’s Restaurant.

  • Spay & Neuter (SNAP) Grants for 2018 – Lisa will look to revamp the program. More to come.
  • Galleria Salon “Cut-A-Thon” -Michele & Donna – although 2 attempts were made to discuss the event with the owner of the Galleria, we have not heard back from them as of yet.
  • Paws for a Cause– Sunday, May 6th -Colonial Park- 9:00am-5:00pm- Michele & Dan. NBHA participates every year and will again this year. This is Second Chance for Animals Rescue Event. Volunteers are needed to man the NBHA table. Volunteer sign-up sheets were passed around.
  • Flea Market -Dan – Saturday, May 12th – at the Township Complex from 8:00am -2pm. This has been confirmed with the Township for the use of the Municipal Complex site. Michele will contact outside volunteer groups to help out. All NBHA Members are needed to help that day as early as 6:00am.
  • Super Cat Adoption Day (SCAD) –Lisa -date for this event is Saturday, June 16th at Our Lady of Peace Church Recreation Center from 10:00am-3:00pm. Lisa is looking for Cat Coordinators who are comfortable around cats. Michele will follow up with outside volunteer groups and food & ice cream vendors. All NBHA Members are needed to help out that day.
