The Meeting was Called to Order by President Vincent Sheehan at 7:09pm

Upcoming Events & Issues:

  • Flea Market – Dan Smith reported the Flea Market was successful. We made roughly $2200-$2300. A Special “Thank You” to all the volunteers (NBHA Members, The American Water Co. Employees, The East Brunswick Youth Group). Thank you to the North Brunswick Township for the use of the facility. There was a lot of merchandise left over and the thought is to have a garage sale later in the year. Some discussion took place on a indoor flea market in the future.
  • Rutgers’s Day – Nancy Costello & Jackie Gminder updated the Members on the activity that took It was a nice day and there were alot of people. Theresa Spataro had previously reported to the Board that NBHA made $199 in purchases & donations. Thank You to all the volunteers, Nancy Costello, Nancy Scalzone, Theresa Spataro Mary Botteon & Jackie Gminder.
  • Paws for a Cause – Second Chance for Animals Rescue Dog Walk – Michele Andrea reported NBHA made $22.00 in sales and $6.00 in donations. A pleasant day for the dog walk. Thank you Jennifer Peppe, Sharon Barton & Jackie Gminder.
  • Paws to Read – Michele Andrea reported the North Brunswick Library Use Book Sale received donations of 43 cans of Cat food for the NBHA Community Cat Program. Thank you, Cheryl McBride & Team.
  • Community Cat Program – Donna Hildreth – 21 Cats went through TNR in the month of April with expenditures of $1659 for the month. Year to Date -$7312 has been spent.
  • Dine to Donate June 9th – Green Turtle2:00pm-6:00pm -Leslie Earle reported no changes to the next outing. People can bring their dog for outside dinning only. We will include that in the next email blast.
  • Super Cat Adoption Day Event (SCAD) Saturday, June 16th – 10:00am-3:00pm – Our Lady of Peace Recreation Center- 1740 Route 130, North BrunswickVolunteers work from 8:00am-4:00pm

Lisa Coletta reported:

  • 18X24 Signs were ready and people took some to place in various locations-More signs available through Dan Smith.
  • Rack Cards were given out with instructions to place at Local Businesses
  • 9 Animal Rescues have confirmed-waiting on 2 more for a total of 11 Animal Rescues Groups in attendance
  • East Brunswick Volunteer Youth Group Confirmed, Food Vendor (Empanada Express) & Mister Softee Confirmed,
  • 11 Cat Coordinators confirmed – Need More (Emily Trager volunteered). We still need more help Carrying in Cat Carriers with the Rescues,
  • Need 2 -3 Volunteers for the NBHA Table
  • Need 3 Volunteers for the Registration Desk –(Emily Trager & Donna Hildreth volunteered), Need 1 more.
  • NEED VOLUNTEERS on Friday, June 15th, when Setup will take place roughly between 4:00pm -5:00pm, we need volunteers to help with this.
  • Need Volunteers to put Starter Kits together on Friday, June 15th as well during setup.

 

  • Annual Dog Walk-a-Thon & Adoption Day EventSeptember 16th, rain date September 30th- Michele Andrea & Dan Smith reported work on the event will begin in full. A Save the Date email was sent 3 weeks ago. 2-Food Vendors & Mister Softee confirmed along with East Brunswick Youth Group.
  • Walmart Grant – Donna Hildreth reported – an email was sent to invited Caregivers to come and pickup their Cat Food on Saturday, May 19th at the Township Complex from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
  • Prudential Insurance Company– Dog & Cat Food Drive- Erica Bundy reported – this program will run from Mid-May through June 1st. Specifically, employees have been asked to donate at the Annual Company Picnic on June 1st. Erica will coordinate with Michele for the Cat Food and Leslie for Dog Food.
  • The Annual North Brunswick Youth Festival – June 14th-June 24th -Jennifer Peppe – reported that a Letter was presented to Mayor Womack’s office regarding the cruelty of treatment and use of animals in this event. NBHA is asking the Mayor to have it stopped at this year’s event. We have not heard back. A discussion on the options we have and the route to take at this was openly discussed. Jennifer will follow up.
  • Pet Scattering Garden– Michele reported work has begun on the Pet Scattering Memorial Garden. Lou Ann Benson, Director of Parks & Recreation is looking for NBHA’s input in building the rules on usage of the Garden and Announcing the launch. More to Come.
