  • Donna spoke about the Shelter Reform Bill S3019 that is currently in the Senate Economic Growth Committee. This will impose a duty on shelters to adopt lifesaving programs to lower the euthanasia rate. Also, recently Senator Ray Lesniack has a bill to ” revise the way in which animal cruelty law is enforced in the State by transferring the power of humane law enforcement from the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NJSPCA) and county societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals (county societies) to a county prosecutor animal cruelty task force in each county, and a municipal humane law enforcement officer appointed in each municipality. This bill is also under committee review.

  • The Stress Factory– Lisa, Vince & Dan- Update- Vince provided an update. Sunday, March 4th is the date for this event. The details are still being worked out. Nevertheless, ,NBHA will be partnering with Second Chance for Animals Rescue on this event. Copies of the playbill or journal from the previous Stress Factory event was passed around for members to get an idea of what type of advertising we need for this. We will be selling tickets as well. We make most of our money off of the advertising. Dan will provide a list of Advertisers names and the various levels of advertising available (ie- ¼ page,1/2 page or full page). All advertising needs to be completed by the first week of February in order for the playbill/ journal to go to press.

They told their guests in lieu of giving gifts to them, to please choose one of four charities and donate. NBHA was one of the four charities listed. As a result, NBHA received $1130 in donations of which Evelyn & Ron gave $200.
