     Membership Meeting

The Meeting was Called to Order by President Vincent Sheehan

Opening & Introductions-was waived

The October Month Minutes were read & accepted by the Membership

Treasurer’s Report – Treasurer Dan Smith reported a Net Expenditures for the month of October of $4886.98

Attendance: Michele Andrea, Leslie Earl, Diana Carmy, Dan Smith, Lisa Coletta, Jocelyn Caffrey, Vincent Sheehan, Erica Bundy, Jeanne Deninto,  Jackie Gminder, Kicia Powell, Carol Paszamant, Jane Prestup &  Dave Prestup & Nancy Costello.

Special Guest Presentation – Mark Cafferty  from the County Animal Rescue Team spoke to the membership about the creation of a local township CART/ Emergency Animal Sheltering Team for North Brunswick. A signup sheet was passed around for those interested in training and participating in this most important team. In the case of an emergency this team would provide support to those residents with animals (dogs & cats) in a sheltering environment ( generally NBHS or one of the appropriate schools that have the room. Results & Upcoming Events:

  • Boscov’s Shopping Tabling Fundraiser- Dan & Vincent thanked Sarah for volunteering. NBHA made $180.00 from from the selling of the discount coupons.
  • Subaru Loves Pet campaign in October – Michele reported that Victory Subaru had collected donations from this campaign of food , household items and shelter kits etc which NBHA gave to 2nd Chance for Animals & New Beginnings Animal Shelters. North Brunswick Humane Association received a $100.00 donation from Victory Subaru.
  • Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping Fundraiser- December 3rd & 10th – Jane Prestup has taken the lead on this event. The members have decided on Sunday, December 10th from 10am to 6pm. This Barnes & Noble store is located in the Brunswick Square Mall on Route 18, East Brunswick. Those wanting to volunteer,please contact Jane directly at notplainJane12 @gmail.com. Jackie, Carol & Theresa signed up.
  • The Stress Factory Comedy Club- Vincent reported that 2nd Chance for Animals Rescue out of Franklin Township will partner with NBHA on this event. Vincent will contact the Stress Factory for dates of February 25th or March 4th. Lisa mentioned we are looking at a Sunday date. We will have to sell tickets for the show and get advertising for the Journal or Play Bill. More to come at the next meeting.
  • Dine to Donate- Green Turtle- December 13th– 4:00pm to 9:00pm – Leslie reported it’s a go. Flyers were passed out by Leslie – See You All There! Some brainstorming took place on future restaurant locations.
  • December Holiday Pizza Party- Michele reported the December meeting will not take place in the Township Complex, the room is not available. Leslie reported we are trying to get the Adams Athletic Club for our December Membership Meeting- Bertucci’s is donating pizza to us for this meeting. We will have a holiday celebration during the meeting.
  • New Brunswick Town Council TNR Proposal – On Nov 2 the town council voted to temporarily stop the feeding ban & to stop the trapping and removal of ear -tipped cats from managed colonies. People are now working on getting a TNR ordinance written & passed for New Brunswick.
  • Last night some of our members were at the county freeholders meeting, along with Brian Hackett of HSUS to try to get a TNR resolution passed for Middlesex county.
  • Pet Food Bank- on the heels of Jennifer Peppe who broke the subject to Trader Joe’s, Michele reported that Jay Soloway and her will visit Trader Joe’s to see about setting up a donation bin in the store.
