NBHA GENERAL MEETING

REPORTS

Minutes – Last meeting minutes were read and approved. Available on request.

Treasurer’s Report – Read and approved. Full report available on request.

Food Bank – 356 pounds of cat/dog food, 140 cans, and two boxes of treats collected received and distributed to Target Areas, Franklin Shelter, and one monthly recipient.

CCP Report – Report read. Donna also briefed the group about Harness Life and the +50 Feral Fix and the upcoming S/N project in October for Feral Cat Day. She informed the group about the Cat Show and food drive in Somerset which will be held on July 16 and 17. NBHA will table at the event. A list was distributed to members to volunteer. Show entry for volunteers is free. Michele distributed a volunteer sign up sheet for cat food drive. Contact Michele for details.

Fundraising Committee – Donna met with Beth and Carolyn for ideas regarding fundraising. Details to follow.

Leslie requested more Dine 2 Donate events. Carol suggested Leone’s as a possibility. Quaker State D2D Date is May 19th. Details on web site and Facebook. Flyers are available.

The lack of volunteers, the future of SCAD, and the direction of fundraising was discussed.

OTHER BUSINESS

Annual Report Update – TBD at next meeting.

Raptor Trust – Carol will organize a trip to Raptor Trust. She will coordinate with Cheryl. Donna mentioned the “wish list” for Raptor Trust. Details TBD.

Flea Market – Saturday, May 14. 8AM-2PM. NBHA volunteers should arrive between 6:00 and 6:30AM on Saturday. Friday volunteers should arrive at Access Storage at 4PM. Michele will update regarding the use of township facilities, and potential volunteers. Jackie, Lisa, Michele, Nancy and Dan-Thank you for volunteering for set-up.

Dog Walk – October 2. Rain date October 16. Planning will begin in June.

Tabling Events – Farmer’s Market begins on Fridays from 11-4. Members are encouraged to volunteer.

Rutgers Day – $163. Thank you Susan, Carol, Sherry and Nancy.

Second Chance Dog Walk – Sunday the 15th at Colonial Park, on Mettlers St. in Somerset.

Volunteers: Nancy, Jackie, Emily and Michele.

NEW BUSINESS

Marketing and Public Relations – Leslie spoke with a college student who can help with Instagram, SnapChat, and Twitter. We will discuss Guidelines for PR in marketing for representation of NBHA.

Donna suggested that NBHA make up a “wish list” for gift cards.

COMMITTEES –DISCUSSIONS

Education Committee – Vince and Diana will meet with the Boy Scouts on Friday, May 20.

Scouts have offered to bring cat food to be distributed by NBHA.

Education Fund – We briefly discussed ideas for scholarship recipients. Suggestions included deciding how many/how much and eligibility requireents, including high school students and people in the animal field. An essay and possible volunteer time with NBHA or similar group could be included in the guidelines.

A request for NBHA historian was offered to members. At this time, we have no historian.

Carol brought a flyer that is being distributed in the Municipal Building regarding feral cats. Michele will contact the township for details.

June 9 – 7-9PM Council Meeting. This is an opportunity to be seen and heard. Residents are encouraged to attend.

Policies and Procedures – TBD at our next meeting.

BY-LAWS:

Members were given a few minutes to review the by-laws. Membership dues were requested at this time. Vote, by show of hands, was in favor of accepting the new by-laws by a count of 11-3.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:01PM.

Our next General Meeting will be held on June 13, at the Municipal Building at 7:00PM.
