The Meeting was Called to Order by Jay Soloway at 7:35pm

Opening & Introductions took place by the Membership

The March Minutes were read and accepted by the Membership

Vincent Sheehan provided the Treasurer’s Report for the period of March 31, 2013. Total Income- $4196.88, Total Operating Expenses- $2,722.38, Net Loss $1,454.50, Bank Balance $48,203.98

MONTHLY ASSOCIATION UPDATES:

Dog/Cat Food Bank – Sandi Erickson reported NBHA fed 23 cats and 2 dogs last month

Donation Cans Update Sandi Erickson reported no deposits this month

Discussion Points & Event Updates:

Flea Market /Rummage Sale – May 18th Sharon Weinstein Canavan & Eileen Lorner- Eileen reported -19 spaces filled, plus 6 more spaces pending. Sharon reported we are in desperate need of hangers for the event. Please go to Dry Cleaner establishments and ask for donation of hangers. The 18X 24 –signs will be distributed tonight and must be placed no later than April 15th.

Super Cat Adoption Day– June 8th– Lisa Coletta & Lora Muckin- Lisa reported we -10 Animal Shelters & Rescues confirmed. The Photographer – confirmed. The food vendor, Muscle Maker Grill of North Brunswick confirmed. 18X 24 –signs will be distributed tonight and must be placed from May 8th– May 12th,not before.

 Educational Series- Ann Marie Walters & Claire Butkus reported that all the schools have been contacted to participate in this proram; there are 5 schools in total. Ann Marie is waiting to hear back from them. The series runs from the end of April, May and part of June. NBHA Needs Presenters for this series. You would present to 3rd graders at the various schools. Please contact Ann Marie Walters through an email to annemariewalters163@gmail.com if you are interested in being a presenter.

 TNR at Renaissance Village Condo –Update –Michele Andrea reported the TNR project is almost complete. It is hard to know how many cats in total are in the community, but the estimate is 50 of which roughly half have gone through the process.

NBHA Official TNR Program – Vince Sheehan & Donna Hildreth spoke about how the association wants to take an official position on TNR.

Finance Report– Sharon Weinstein-Canavan reported- expenses are not 100%, there are official forms to fill out copies in black and white, we need to watch our expenses. Deposits are bring made properly.

Software Purchase-A motion was made to purchase the Acobat Pro 11 software to edit our flyers and other documents and not have to pay for editing charges with a Printing Company. Michele Andrea will follow up on this.

New Business & Good & Welfare

Helmetta Shelter & The meeting with Senator Barbara Buono’s offiice –Health Regulations – Donna Hildreth- indicated that the Helmetta Shelter had been closed from March 28 until April 18 because of a parvo outbreak, according to postings on the Face Book page. Members were encouraged to volunteer at the shelter and to donate food and other items for the comfort of the animals. Updates were also given on steps individual members have made to legislators regarding the need for shelter reform legislation.

North Brunswick Senior Center- NBHA has been invited to participate in a Lunch & Learn segment at the Senior Center on April 19th- Jay Soloway will introduce the Mission of the organization to the group, Ann Marie & Claire Butkus will speak about the 3rd Grade Educational Series and will be looking for volunteers from this audience to help out in this program. Eileen Lorner will speak about adopting Senior Cats. 

Rutgers Day- April 27th – 10am-4pm- Cook Douglas Campus –Tabling Event – (Promote Upcoming Events) – Eileen Lorner spoke about this event. Anyone who wants to participate let Eileen Lorner know.

Rutgers Garden Show- Tabling Event- (Promote Upcoming Events) May 10th, 11th & 12th. We will have a table there. We will send out an announcement on what date of the 3 we decide to participate at this event. More to Come.

Eastern Mountain Sports (Members Day)- May 3rd & 4th –Jay Soloway reported we will have a table at this event as well. Contact Jay Soloway if you are interested in attending this tabling event at JnMuttley2@aol.com.

Friends of Animals United of NJ (FAUN NJ) Jay Soloway reported FAUN NJ is beginning a new season of demonstrations geared toward educating the public about the statistics….99.9% of pet stores buy from puppy mills. FAU NJ will be at American Puppy Club, Route 35, Middletown on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 12 to 4 PM.

A motion was made and 2nd to budget $200 to purchased posts for the 4×4 signs
